Heavy-Duty Wanch in Riyadh
ونش ثقيل
A heavy-duty wanch (ونش ثقيل) is a rigid wrecker with a rotating underlift boom rated to 25 tonnes. It lifts a truck, bus or tanker by the axle and tows it on its remaining wheels — the only lawful way to move a commercial vehicle that no flatbed can carry.

What it loads
- Rigid trucks, tippers and mixers
- Buses and coaches, including 50-seat intercity units
- Tractor units and loaded trailers
- Forklifts, generators and site plant on a low-loader transfer
- Any vehicle above 3.5 t that a flatbed cannot legally carry
What it will not take
- Ordinary cars — the underlift is far too coarse and a flatbed is cheaper
- Work inside multi-storey structures; the wrecker needs 4.2 m and a firm surface
- Loaded tankers carrying hazardous cargo, until the load is transferred by the operator
How the hydraulics do the job
- 1
The crew chocks the vehicle, releases the air brakes with an external line, and disconnects the prop shaft where the axle will be towed.
- 2
The underlift slides beneath the axle, the forks close on the hub or the spring pack, and the boom lifts to the towing height.
- 3
Safety chains go on, the lighting board is fitted to the rear, and the wrecker moves at a restricted speed with an escort where required.
Price
From SAR 500 depending on weight, recovery time and distance. Loaded trailers and overturned units are surveyed before a price is fixed. See the full price list.

How heavy a vehicle can you tow?
The underlift is rated to 25 tonnes, which covers rigid trucks, buses and most tractor units. Above that we bring a second wrecker and work in tandem.
Do you have to disconnect the prop shaft?
For most rear-axle tows, yes. Towing a driven axle on the road with the gearbox stationary destroys the box, so removing the shaft is standard practice and takes about twenty minutes.
Can you recover an overturned truck?
Yes, using the rotator winch and lifting bags, usually with a second wrecker for the anchor. This is a surveyed job, so send photographs and we price it properly rather than guessing.
How quickly can a heavy wrecker reach the Riyadh–Dammam highway?
Typically 45 to 75 minutes to the first 150 km of Route 40, depending on where the wrecker is when you call. We give a real ETA, not an optimistic one.
