Crane Wanch in Riyadh
ونش كرين
A crane wanch (ونش كرين) carries a knuckle-boom crane behind the cab, rated at 12 tonne-metres. It lifts vertically and over obstacles, which is what you need when a vehicle has to come out of a pit, over a boundary wall, or off a surface a truck cannot reach.

What it loads
- Cars that have gone into an excavation or a basement light-well
- Vehicles behind a wall or a locked compound with no gate wide enough
- Machinery, containers and generators lifted onto a bed
- Cars on a roof-level car park with a failed lift
- Vehicles that must be lifted vertically because there is no room to pull
What it will not take
- Any lift under power lines or a structure — the boom needs clear sky
- Loads over 3 tonnes at full reach; the rating falls sharply with distance
- Lifts on soft or unproven ground until the outrigger pads are laid
How the hydraulics do the job
- 1
Outriggers extend onto spreader pads and the truck is levelled; the crane will not arm until the chassis is level.
- 2
A four-leg spreader with soft slings goes onto rated lifting points, or under the sills on padded beams for a car.
- 3
The load is lifted a few centimetres, held to prove the rigging, then swung across and lowered onto the waiting bed.
Price
From SAR 700 for a standard lift including setup. Lifts needing a road closure or a permit are quoted after a site photo. See the full price list.

When do I need a crane instead of a normal wanch?
When the vehicle cannot be pulled horizontally to the truck. A car in a pit, behind a wall, or on a roof deck has to come up and over, and only a boom does that.
How much can the crane lift?
Twelve tonne-metres, which means roughly three tonnes at four metres of reach and about 1.3 tonnes at nine metres. The further out, the less it lifts — that ratio decides whether the job is possible.
Do you need a permit?
For a lift over a public road or a boundary, usually yes, and we arrange it. On private ground with the owner's permission, no permit is needed.
How long does a crane lift take?
About 90 minutes on site: twenty minutes to set up outriggers, thirty to rig the load properly, and the lift itself is a few minutes. Rigging is the part that must not be rushed.
